Hinton Trust Open Chess Tournament

About This Event

Hinton Trust Open Chess Tournament The Hinton Trust Open Chess Tournament is an annual youth focused chess competition targeting players under the age of 18 years. It aims to promote chess development, nurture young talent and expand access to competitive chess opportunities, particularly among children and young people from underserved communities. The tournament brings together young players from different chess clubs, schools and communities to compete, improve their skills, gain valuable tournament experience and build connections through chess. Beyond competition, the event supports grassroots chess development, with a particular focus on strengthening chess clubs in Mwiki and Githurai, encouraging youth participation and creating pathways for emerging players to progress to higher levels of competition. Through the support of the Hinton Trust, the tournament uses chess as a tool for education, youth development, inclusion and community empowerment.
